in buffered aqueous solution.
0.025% w/v
Preservative :
Benzalkonium Chloride USP  0.02% w/v

Indications

Zoamet paediatric Drops is indicated for symptomatic relief from nasal stuffiness and nasopharyngeal mucosal congestion commonly associated with cold, acute and chronic rhinitis/nasopharyngitis, sinusitis, allergy; also for better visualization of nasal and nasopharyngeal areas for diagnostic procedures.

Actions

Most of the distress in children suffering from acute nasopharyngitis and chronic rhinitis/ nasopharyngitis is due to nasal obstruction and attempts should be made to provide relief as it interferes with sleep or with food or fluid ingestion.

Nasal instillation of Zoamet paediatric Drops may be an effective method to remove nasal obstruction through mucosal vasoconstriction. This results in shrinkage of mucosal oedema, promotes drainage and thereby improve ventilation. Zoamet paediatric Drops is better than oral decongestants due to its immediate effect and needs no addition of corticosteroid or antihistamines.

Precautions/Contraindications

Zoamet paediatric Drops should not be used in children below 1 year of age. Prolonged use may cause rebound  congestion and drug induced rhinitis. Zoamet Paediatric Drops is contraindicated in patients with history of hypersensitivity to sympathomimetic amines manifested by tremor, weakness, dizziness, insomnia or arrhythmia.

Adverse Reactions

Milder than those produced by shorter-acting nasal decongestants. Commonly occurring with normal use includes sneezing, dryness of nasal mucosa, local stinging or burning sensation, palpitations. Adverse effects on CNS or blood pressure may be seen with overdosage, similar to those with other imidazolines.
