Actions
Cyclovarin
has a wide range of actions like uterotropic, uterine sedative,
haemostatic, psychotropic, haematinic, wound healing, carminative
& digestive. Cyclovarin
inhibits irregular muscular contraction and directly stimulates
the myometrium of ill developed uterus to help it function
normally. Cyclovarin alleviates
uterine ischaemia by increasing uterine blood flow and thereby
relieves pain in spasmodic dysmenorrhoea. It also decreases
persistent lower abdominal discomfort by its diuretic action.
Cyclovarin normalises endocrinal
upset by its psychotropic action and restores the rhythm of
the menstrual cycle. It also reduces the congestion of salpingo-oophoritis.
Cyclovarin
has been found to possess some healing properties in conditions
like cervical erosion and also reduces inflammation of mucous
membrane and removes congestion of cervix.
Cyclovarin also improves nutritional status
and enhances haemoglobin level in the blood by correcting
chronic iron deficiency.
Indications
Cyclovarin
is useful in reducing premenstrual tension and in the treatment
of oligomenorrhoea, irregular cycles, secondary amenorrhoea,
primary dysmenorrhoea; also useful in infertility and sub-sterility
Side effects
Cyclovarin
is usually without any side effects. Only,
in some instances, there may be some abdominal discomfort,
which can be overcome with any antacid.
Dosage
1
capsule thrice daily for three consecutive cycles. The therapy
with Cyclovarin
can be initiated from any day, for it does not
interfere with the onset of menstruation, and is to be continued
with interruptions as suggested below :
On the onset of menstrual bleeding, the therapy is to be
interrupted for 3 days and resumed from the 4th day. If the
bleeding is found to be profuse, the therapy may be resumed
immediately. In case of infertility and sub-sterility, a therapy
of 3 to 6 months with interruptions as suggested above is
recommended. If amenorrhoea occurs during the course of therapy,
it should be discontinued and the patient is to be tested
for pregnancy
