Actions
Corto Quinol has a powerful antiseptic
action and has merited popularity in the treatment of a wide
range of dermatologic disorders because of its antieczematous,
antibacterial, antifungal and antipruritic properties. It
acts locally without systemic absorption and is well tolerated. Hydrocortisone
acetate in
Corto Quinol
provides effective antiinflammatory and antiallergic effects
without antimicrobial property and hence is compounded with
quiniodochlor (clioquinol) to provide better relief from inflamed/allergic/irritant
skin conditions. Safety is greater with hydrocortisone as
with fluorinated corticosteroids the potential iatrogenicity
is increased. Hydrocortisone should be used exclusively for
the steroid responsive lesions of the face, periorbital regions,
perioral and intertriginous areas.
